Based on the legendary 1073, the Heritage Audio HA73EQ ELITE microphone preamplifier with EQ delivers vivid clarity and pressure to any microphone or instrument, and with up to 80 dB gain, the HA73 is suitable for any microphone type from condenser to dynamic to ribbon microphones. Carnhill's hand-wound input and output transformers give any source, whether microphone, line or DI instrument signal, warmth, richness and assertiveness. The separate gain controls for the inputs and outputs allow the signal to be selectively colored by the transformers without overloading the output stage. The DI circuit is located in front of the microphone input transformer: this preserves the specific character of a fed-in bass DI signal, and if the input is driven higher, the typically saturated sound that is known from classic mixing consoles is produced.
The EQ section of the HA73EQ ELITE is based on the classic 1073 circuitry and produces the same sound and typical harmonic distortion. The 3-band design consists of a fixed frequency RF shelving section, a fixed quality center band with six selectable frequencies and an LF shelving filter with four switchable frequencies. The high-pass filter with four selectable frequencies can be used to attenuate unwanted background noise in the bass range.
