The Hexinverter Électronique Mutant Machine Dynamic Analogue Percussion Engine is capable of generating a wide variety of sounds, incorporating a range of analogue percussion instruments, complex drones and oscillations. The Mutant Machine features two synthesis sections that are summed together at the final output. Named as Membrane and Snappy, these circuits began their mutation as classic analogue percussion techniques and have been reimagined for 21st century modular synthesis.
The Membrane forms the main body of the sound through two analogue VCOs. The waveforms that make up the Membrane can be selected manually by button press, or the Wavescanner can be used to automatically scan through the available analogue waveforms. By modulating the frequency through which waves are scanned, unique, complex sounds can be created.
The Snappy section further adds to the timbre by contributing noisy elements to the mix. A noisy Click that occurs at the beginning of the Snappy sound has an adjustable volume independent of the main decaying Snappy texture. The Mutant Machine features eight CV and gate inputs for modulation as well as two external audio inputs. Many audio outputs are provided for maximum versatility.
