The Ibanez Bass Workshop SRMS800-DTW Multiscale Deep Twilight is a first-class 4-string electric bass with a multi-scale scale, with a broad and well-defined sound that suits almost any style of music. The four-string not only features an okoumé body with a beautiful Poplar Burl top but also a comfortably playable Jatoba walnut neck with a fanned Panga-Panga fingerboard. Furthermore, the electric tone conversion is handled by two Bartolini BH2 pickups with Ibanez Custom Electronics 3-band tone control for versatile tone patterns. Last but not least, the Ibanez SRMS800-DTW features four Ibanez MR5S single bridges and precise Ibanez bass tuners.
The most striking feature of the Ibanez Bass Workshop SRMS800-DTW Multiscale Deep Twilight is undoubtedly the construction with individual scale length for each string, which increases from 33.5 inches for the g-string to 34.5 inches for the low B-string and results in the strikingly fanned frets of the panga-panga fingerboard. The concept, familiar from the piano, allows each string to vibrate at the optimal length for its tuning, so that each note sounds cleanly defined. At the same time, the balanced string tension allows for comfortable playability across all registers.
Furthermore, the Ibanez SRMS800 as a representative of the Soundgear design offers a high playability and a perfectly coordinated choice of woods. Accordingly, the body is made of okoumé with typical ergonomic lines and a top of intensively grained poplar wood (Poplar Burl), which is set off by a decorative walnut veneer. The four-bolt neck is furthermore made of five-ply jatoba and walnut, and the slim "SRMS4" profile fits comfortably in the hand.
For electric tone conversion, Ibanez's Bass Workshop SRMS800-DTW Multiscale Deep Twilight is equipped with two Bartolini BH2 pickups. As passive humbuckers with a narrow magnetic field and blade pole pieces, the pickups deliver a finely articulated bass sound that delöviers every note with a tight bass foundation, punchy mids and clear highs. Furthermore, the Ibanez Custom Electronics 3-band tone control is available, which allows particularly precise tuning of the sound pattern with a semi-parametrically designed midband. Via the EQ bypass switch, the EQ can also be deactivated and the bass can be played passively.
Last but not least, the Ibanez Bass Workshop SRMS800-DTW is equipped with high-quality Ibanez hardware. Four Ibanez MR5S individual bridges are used on the body, which not only guarantees an optimal adjustment of intonation and string action but also makes the string spacing adjustable. In addition, they support the mutual decoupling of the strings a defined sound development and an even sustain. Four Ibanez Die-Cast bass tuners ensure an accurate and stable tuning.
