Thanks to the powerful ceramic magnets and the blade-shaped pole pieces, the EMG 81 delivers a brute Metal sound that intersperses every riff or solo in the band sound with a tight bass foundation and laser sharply focused mid-range and treble, whereby the precise attack perfectly represents every touch. The EMG 85, on the other hand, is equipped with Alnico magnets and therefore convinces with a warm yet transparent sound that makes every note sing with a long sustain.
