MFB DRUM-99 is a mixer module for modular synthesizers in Eurorack format. The module was developed especially for the drum modules of MFB, but also for other manufacturers. When using several drum modules in a modular system, the problem often arises that there are not enough audio inputs on filters or VCAs. For example, if you want to edit an entire drum set with one filter, you need a separate mixer like the DRUM-99 module.
MFB DRUM-99 offers five adjustable inputs, each of which can be distributed in the panorama of the internal stereo signal path with its own controller. In addition, the module has a non-adjustable stereo input, which can be used to cascade two or more DRUM-99 modules. This input can also be used for the DRUM-06 module, which also has a stereo output. The signals of the five mono inputs and the stereo input are connected to the stereo output, which can be connected to two VCAs, filters or other sound processing modules, but can also be used as a direct output to a mixing console or audio interface. The stereo output is designed so technically that it can be short-circuited (summed) with other stereo outputs.
It is working well to mix drums but I also use it for other synth sounds. I tend to have 5 drum-sounds in the mono channels to create a stereo sub-mix and use the additional stereo input as needed. I then take the stereo output of this submix into another mixer. I did not measure-test the quality of the output with measuring audio meters, but so far it sounds fine. Happy with it so far
