The MFB Tanzbar Analogue Drum Computer provides 14 analogue percussion instruments and can also be used as an analogue bass synthesizer which can also produce melodic structures with its step sequencer and adjustable parameters. The Tanzbar Analogue Drum Computer delivers authentic analogue sound which many search for in a drum machine.
The Tanzbar’s built-in step sequencer will inspire both production and live performance sessions with its capability of storing up to 144 patterns, as well as all parameters being tweakable on-the-fly and recorded per step. The fill function allows for patterns to be chained for longer periods, and every pattern provides A/B variations which can be selected manually or automatically. There are 16 flame and roll-variations available and the step length is adjustable for every instrument which provides simple polyrhythmic creations. Step sequencing amounts available are 32 steps, 16 steps, as well as 16 and 8 triplet steps, with a shuffle control which can be used on a global or per instrument basis. There is also a nifty bend function which creates glides and LFO type sweeps for bass drum 1/2, snare drum and toms 2/3.
The Tanzbar can also be used to operate external instruments with its CV/Gate outputs, of which one is used to control dynamics from a third CV output. The CV/Gate sequencer has a range of three octaves and is programmable. In terms of ins and outs, there is one MIDI out, two MIDI ins, stereo ¼” jack output and 12 individual ¼” jack outputs. The Tanzbar provides a solid analogue audio experience and is built road-ready with its rugged body, ensuring its longevity.

Love this machine. I like the Mfb sound, I have bought many of their modules over the years. Build quality has been a bit suspect but Tanzbar is a step up, it's not great quality but it's not bad either. I think the price is justified because the sound and features make this one of the best machines on the market. It sounds funky, hard to explain it but it is the first drum machine I have used when I immediately think funky. It's not a clone, it's an Mfb machine and it sounds good.
I am extremely impressed by the Tanzbar. The sounds are great and the number of parameters to tweak are second to none. Full drum kit and leads! You can do a lot with this machine. Dedicated volume knobs make a difference. The only con is the learning curve, it's more complicated than other similar units. Though the design offers controls over every sound, it lacks a display and requires some 'training' (aka read the manual) to understand what the machine is doing.
I am located in the U.S. and I've been extremely pleased with the music store! Very helpful, responsive, and the only company to ship the MFB Tanzbar to the US. I will be ordering from them again.
