With the Markbass JP
Markbass follows traditional guidelines in the construction of the JP White Battered 4, relying on a bolt-on maple neck alongside a lightweight alder body, which together provide the foundation for a lively tone with even sustain. While the classic lines of the body provide a snug playing feel, the slim neck profile fits comfortably in the hand, making every groove feel like it plays itself. Last but not least, chic block inlays mark the layers of the 20-fret rosewood fingerboard.
As pickups for the JP White Battered 4 Bass guitar Markbass chooses two self-developed single coils, which are mounted in Seventies configuration with the bridge pickup placed very close to the bridge. At the bass amp, the bass guitar accordingly delivers multifaceted sounds with a clear vintage character, ranging from the wiry enforcement tone of the bridge pickup to the deep, yet transparent sound of the middle pickup. In order to be able to adjust the timbre optimally, Markbass also equips the JP Bass with the in-house Markbass active electronics, which allow musical interventions in the character-shaping frequency ranges with controls for bass, middle and treble. If desired, the bass can also be played classically passive, with a dedicated treble slider to adjust the bass sounds.
Last but not least, Markbass completes the JP White Battered 4 VG RW electric bass with a high-quality hardware setup that combines classic vintage looks with modern functionality. The Markbass Die-Cast Bridge with brass barrel tail pieces not only supports the traditional tonal character of the bass guitar, but also ensures precise intonation and string action adjustment. The Markbass tuners on the strikingly painted headstock also promise a particularly precise and stable tuning of the electric bass with the 20:1 ratio.
