The Music Man StingRay 5 Special HH EB Smoked Chrome impresses with particularly comfortable handling and a multi-faceted sound spectrum with the typical StingRay characteristics thanks to the prudent revision of body design and electronics. Music Man uses a Select Hardwood body and a bolt-on neck made of roasted maple with a 22-fret ebony fingerboard. Furthermore, two powerful Music Man Standard neodymium humbuckers and an active 3-band EQ with 18 volts of operating voltage ensure particularly versatile bass sounds that also reproduce the low B string in a defined way. Last but not least, the StingRay 5 Special HH EB Smoked Chrome bass guitar from Music Man features weight-saving custom lightweight tuners and a vintage top-load bridge.
In terms of construction, Music Man uses a traditional wood selection for the StingRay 5 Special HH, which ensures a defined and harmonious output of all five strings. The body of the 5-string bass is made of lightweight, carefully selected hardwood, while the five-bolt neck is made of sturdy roasted maple and features an ebony fretboard. Other features that make the bass highly playable are the redesigned body contours, which make the bass fit comfortably against the body, and the Sculpted Neck Joint, which together with the comfortable C-neck profile, makes all 22 stainless steel frets easily accessible.
Equipped with two Music Man Standard neodymium humbucker pickups, the StingRay 5 Special HH proves to be a true all-rounder that can be used to lay down the right groove for almost any style of music. Thanks to the powerful magnets, the pickups deliver an output-strong, finely resolved tone that reproduces even the low B string with crisp response and optimal tone definition. The pickups, or their individual coils, can be connected in different combinations via the 5-way blade switch so that a wide range of characterful timbres is available. For further tuning of the sound, a 3-band tone control powered by 18 volts is also on board, which convinces with a musical tuning of all frequency bands and an enormous headroom.
Last but not least, the StingRay 5 Special HH EB Smoked Chrome electric bass from Music Man offers high-quality hardware features that have been optimally matched to the five-string. Accordingly, the solid steel Music Man Vintage Top-Load bridge is used on the body. At the headstock, five weight-optimized Music Man Custom Lightweight tuners in the classic "4+1" layout ensure precise tuning.
