The KM 185 Stereo Set are two professional small-diaphragm condenser microphones that have been reduced to the essentials without a lot of frills: The most realistic and neutral recording possible of any signal source. Thanks to its slim design and excellent transmission characteristics, the KM 185 is frequently used not only in studio and live applications, but also in radio and television productions.

The problem solver hypercardioid

The precise hypercardioid provides excellent suppression of laterally incident sound at an angle of incidence of 120° and ensures coloration-free imaging of adjacent sound sources. This makes the KM 185 the perfect problem solver for difficult applications, e.g. when the snare drum is to be picked up with as little crosstalk as possible from the Hi-Hat.

The sound of the KM 185 can be described as clear, fresh and brilliant. This can also be derived from a slight treble emphasis in the range and 10 kilohertz. Due to its clear sound, the KM 185 is a routine all-rounder and reproduces almost any instrument with extraordinary complexity and depth of sound. Especially in stereo recordings, these characteristics allow a sound source to be captured in a clean and clear stereo image.
