With the Origin Effects M-EQ Driver, the British company sends a top-class mid-boost and Overdrive pedal into the race, which is clearly inspired by the musical, easily overdriven studio EQs of the Fifties and allows the precise shaping of the ideal overdrive sound. Based on a fully analogue circuit, the pedal offers not only a transformer-based mid-boost with three selectable centre frequencies and a harmonic distortion character but also a high-cut with Adaptive Circuitry to shape the sound character via the playing dynamics and the volume pot of the electric guitar.
Mid-Boost and Overdrive
At the heart of the M-EQ Driver's fully analogue circuitry is a musically designed mid-boost that can be used to precisely adjust the character of the sound. While the Mids pot allows subtle boosts of the mid-frequency ranges on the first half of its control path, more pronounced level increases for particularly focused timbres are on the agenda in the second half. Here, the KCS Switch determines which frequency range of the mid-spectrum is boosted. In addition, the guitar pedal offers a push-pull Output stage, whose tube-like distortion can be adjusted via the Drive control.
High Cut with Adaptive Circuitry
To customize the sound character, the Origin Effects M-EQ Driver also offers a High-Cut that reduces the treble content as the Cut pot is turned up, allowing you to create particularly warm guitar sounds. If desired, the high-cut can be controlled with the innovative Adaptive Circuitry, which is sensitive to the playing dynamics and volume pot of the guitar and allows more treble to pass through at softer strokes or reduced volume for consistent brilliance.
