With the ADI-2 Pro, RME introduces an AD/DA converter of the reference class. It combines the features of several devices and, thanks to the simple and in most cases automated operation, is ready for operation immediately after unpacking. The size to function ratio, a practical design with excellent technical specifications and two extremely powerful headphone outputs are definitely impressive. Balanced/unbalanced analog I/Os, 4-stage hardware input and output level switching, DSP based signal processing, operation with external power supply, Class Complian USB compatibility and and and and are just waiting to be used - flexibility is written in capital letters here!
Equipped with two servo-balanced analog inputs via XLR/jack combination jack, separate balanced and unbalanced outputs as XLR and jack, two Extreme Power stereo headphone outputs at the front, an ADAT compatible optical SPDIF I/O, as well as coaxial SPDIF and AES I/O via included cable whip, the ADI2Pro brings everything the heart desires and thus flexible signal transmission without compromise. The USB 2.0 connection is not only Class Compliant and allows the use with iOS devices, but also an interface for firmware updates. In addition to the power supply via the external power supply unit with a lockable plug included in the scope of delivery, battery-powered operation is also possible, which enables both mobile use and galvanically isolated applications. The ADI2 Pro offers a stereo and a multi-channel mode for use as a computer interface.
The used components make the ADI2Pro the reference class converter: The extraordinary main board consists of 10 layers with increased copper thickness and thus guarantees a fine, undisturbed sound, but also a powerful but separate power for the headphone outputs. The internal operating voltage circuits and precision controllers work with a Super Low Noise Design, so that the sound quality is not impaired by the power supply. SoundPLus operational amplifiers also deliver the highest SNR, the lowest THD and a high slew rate in all conditions. The entire analog circuit design is DC coupled and fully balanced. The only capacitors in the signal path protect against DC at the input jack and have been carefully selected to eliminate any negative sound effects
. 786 kHz sample rate and DSD recording are supported.
The 4-channel AD converter is used in a dual mono design, with 3 dB increased signal-to-noise ratio.
A powerful DSP with 2.17 Giga Flops scores with EQ, crossfeed and spectral analysis functions.
Functions such as parametric 5-band EQs for completely individual sound adjustment, an adjustable bass/treble control with DeepL access, a binaural crossfeed function, an adjustable loudness filter, selectable AD/DA filters and much more are optimally represented via the front display with high-resolution IPS display. Warnings and controls are also displayed to improve workflow, while professional features such as M/S processing, stereo width and phase reversal are also included. And the list goes on!
