The Rockruepel limit.one is a neo-classic: A transformer-based analog limiter! Brickwall limiting, level control for mono or Stereo signals and new sound shaping possibilities in one device. This new limiter circuit design improves control over high and highly fluctuating audio levels. Designed to get the most out of dynamics while keeping the waveform of the signal intact, the limit.one is made for the 21st century and its new audio formats and platforms like iTunes, Spotify or YouTube.
How does the limit.one work?
Rockruepel adapted and optimized the use of a current-controlled attenuator that sits between two Pikatron transformers. This element limits the signal but preserves its original waveform. A 10-turn potentiometer is used to adjust the threshold extremely precisely over a wide range from +2dBu to over +22dBu.
The output catch-up gain of up to 5dB and the 4 reset times from slow to fast are realized by means of Elma rotary switches. The unit can be used mono or stereo and has a relay based bypass. An additional output allows the additional execution of the signal in mastering applications.
