With the Rockson TL Electric Guitar Blonde, Rockson offers an affordable entry into the world of sought-after T-style guitar sounds. The classic TL-style instrument features a lightweight poplar body and maple neck. Thanks to the slim C-profile, first fingerings and leads are extremely comfortable, especially for beginners, while on the tonal side two single coil pickups equipped with ceramic magnets in the neck and bridge position provide appropriate sounds at the amplifier. I received my order of a Rockson TL (Blonde) guitar after waiting for a week (I didn't realise it had to come from Germany). Whilst I accept the current situation and climate, I wasn't expecting to find that the guitar had obviously not been checked and set up as the top fret on all 6 strings just makes a 'plinking' noise (every other fret on every other string is fine). I realise that it is a cheap guitar but I refer you to your website which states: "Every guitar is thoroughly checked, adjusted and precisely tuned. Almost no instrument is shipped without us having to make adjustments. Every guitar includes a signed test certificate." Surely this promise covers all of your products, regardless of price and as a novice, I am now left with a non-functional instrument over Christmas.
Honestly, when I ordered this guitar I was not expecting much. I stopped playing guitar 6 years ago and I just wanted something to get myself back into the swing of things. I ordered this and I've been extremely surprised by how good it sounds and how well it's built.
The tuners are good quality and hold the tuning well, the neck, fretboard are all finished extremely well. I've had no string catching on the frets like I've experienced with other inexpensive guitars and the neck feels great in the hand.
The only bad mark against the guitar is the pickups, again, I wasn't expecting much at all, but even so these aren't great. They're fine for clean sounds and a small bit of overdrive, but the neck pickup is almost unusable with distortion. The bridge is fine, but playing warm rock tones isn't something you'll be doing here.
Other than the small issue with the neck pickup, the guitar is phenomenal value and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a budget entry level guitar.
This thing is great fun - so much so I even bought one for a semi - pro friend- he likes it but still hasn't given more detailed feedback.
It's incredibly light and easy to play and it sounds pretty wild.
Okay. There are some features/issues...
The neck is fat and flat. If you want that it's fantastic.
It has the biggest frets I've ever seen - bigger than my bass. They are well filed and levelled not a single one sharp. But they are chunky. Good or bad.
The pickups are microphonic, especially the bridge. I like that, others may not.
The body looks fantastic and is light. The neck is very very yellow. Very.
That's my take it's really fun and easy to play and they pickups sound wild. Oh the tuners and other hardware is fine.
For beginners? Maybe- it's easy to play. Maybe better as a fun second guitar or for modding...
