Just in time for the company's 30th anniversary, the Braunschweig bass smithy Sandberg is presenting a special model, the Sandberg Basic Ken Taylor 4 30th Anniversary, to celebrate this special occasion. Based on the popular Signature electric bass of the Peter Maffay bassist, the four-string is convincing thanks to chrome-plated hardware and two Powerhumbucker pickups including active electronics in both optical and tonal terms.
Proven woods and construction methods form the construction basis for the Sandberg Basic Ken Tylor 4 30th Anniversary. The body made of alder and the six-ply bolted maple neck with rosewood fingerboard promise a harmoniously balanced primary tone with a crisp response for precise grooves. The slim neck with "D" profile offers a high playing comfort with all techniques, so that nothing stands in the way of hours of fatigue-free bass playing. An optical highlight of the Sandberg Basic Ken Taylor 30th Anniversary is the anniversary inlay in the 12th fretboard fretboard.
With two power Sandberg humbuckers in the bridge and middle position, the Sandberg Basic Ken Taylor covers a variable sound spectrum ranging from rich low-end thrust to wiry, assertive power sound. Using the Split Switch, the two humbuckers can also be split to provide transparent single coil accents in bass sound. In addition, the Sandberg Ken Taylor is equipped with an active 3-band tone control that can be used to fine-tune the character of the sound. The strings are held by the solid Sandberg Bridge 4 on the body side, whose heavy construction contributes significantly to the strong character tone, while string riders adjustable in three dimensions guarantee perfect adjustment of intonation and string position. In 2016, the cult bass smithy Sandberg can already look back on 30 successful years in music business. Founded by Holger Stonjek, who still holds the reins today, and Gerd Gorzelke, the first bass workshop was located in a converted pigsty with the address "Am Sandberg 18" in Wolfsburg, to which the company name also goes back. Shortly after the company was founded, the company moved to neighbouring Braunschweig, where the basses are still manufactured today.
