Steinberg enters the second round with Dorico Pro and, in addition to the classic features of the notation software, offers new functions and tools that make working easier and thus improve the workflow. This now includes the ability to play a video in sync with the project, add markers and make tempo changes to compose directly to the image. The familiar graphical automation tools allow tempo, dynamics and MIDI controllers to be changed in playback mode, while Ossia staffs can be added, complex divisi notation for string sections can be used, and the number of staffs for an instrument can be determined with the intelligent new staff tools. Slash notation and lazy characters for parts of the rhythm section can now be inserted quickly and efficiently, and Hollywood-style large-format bars help you quickly capture metre changes in action-packed film music. Also new is the system track for quick selection, insertion and deletion of material, the helpful selection of tools for arrangers including multi-insert, multi-enlarge, multi-reduce and tools for scaling existing notes in N-toles of any value, as well as the ability to edit the appearance of playing techniques and note head sets.
