The Stromberg Monterey Solid Black skilfully continues the tradition of the first early archtop guitars of the big band era and follows the high standards of these legendary role models. This slender semi-hollow guitar provides a warm acoustic feel thanks to sophisticated ceiling construction, whilst 2x Kent Armstrong Convertible P90 humbucker format pickups are responsible for the electric sound conversion. The Monterey is complemented by a Bigsby B-70 vibrato system and a classic Roller Bridge for stable vibrato sounds.
Jazz Box in Semi-Hollow Construction
The body construction of the Monterey combines the full and round acoustic sound of classic hollow body models with the narrow frame width of agile semi-hollows and offers a sound rich in character with pleasant playability. The top, back and sides of the Stromberg Monterey are made entirely from maple, while the massive centre block prevents unwanted feedback on higher gain settings.
Kent Armstrong Convertible P90
As a pioneer of the modern pickup, Kent Armstrong has made a name for himself alongside Bill Lawrence. With the Convertible P90, a single coil in humbucker format, the Stromberg Monterey gets a warm and broad sound with a classic single coil character. The flexible pickups are always defined and clear on any gain setting from gentle cleansing to powerful crunching.
