In 2015, Tama introduced the Yesteryear Classic Edition. The 3-piece sets impress with their loving retro looks combined with modern sound. The Yesteryear sets are ideal for drummer who are into the vintage look but want a professional, modern and reliable drumset. The limited edition of the famous Starcalssic series is available in three exceptional finishes.
Sound characteristics and shell construction
With the use of bubinga wood on the inside of the birch shells, Tama has opened up a new chapter in the Starclassic series. The shells consist of four plies of birch for the toms and five for the bassdrum, combined with three bubinga plies. The mix of bubinga and birch hast created a new sounds that combines the hard attack of birch with the nice low harmonics of bubinga. The shells are equipped with high quality Evans head. The cast hops are cast from a single piece of zinc which results in optimal head to shell contact with even pressure for consistent and clean tuning.
High-end Tama features
The Tama Starclassic Performer B/B comes with a number of great features. The StarCast mounting system allows easy positioning of the toms and the holder has a new look which compliments the hardware. The use of aluminum makes the system lighter which also increases resonance. The included single tom attachment allows you to mount the rack tom on a cymbal stand. The spur brackets now comes with memory locks for fast setup and the rubber padded bassdrum claws prevent any metal to shell contact. To increase the resonance, the floor tom legs have an air vent in the rubber feet.
