The Tascam DP-24 SD Digital Portastudio is a digital portastudio, featuring 24-tracks, a colour LCD display, an on-board EQ, reverb and multi-band mastering effects, and SD card recording. The DP-24SD Digital Portastudio is a 24-track workstation, allowing eight tracks of simultaneous recording. The built-in mixer includes everything you need for a professional-sounding mix, from EQ and reverb to amp simulation and multi-band mastering effects.
The Digital Portastudio series creates finished productions without the need for a computer, instead using a simple-to-use control surface to keep you creative. For clear display of your mix, the DP-24SD has a large colour LCD displaying tracks, meters, and effects parameters. A set of 12 encoders’ control EQ, effects sends, and panning. Built-in effects include compression, guitar amp modelling, delay, reverb, with a total of 10 effects processors available during mixing.
Eight XLR mic/line inputs each provide phantom power for condenser microphones, switchable in banks of four. One input includes an instrument-level impedance switch for direct input recording of guitar or bass. Balanced monitor outputs and effects sends are also provided on the rear panel. A USB output allows tracks and mixes recorded to your SD card to be transferred to a computer for CD burning or sharing online.

Great, flexible, well built and easy to use if you have an understanding of multi track recording and a great place to start if you don't. The manual is a little confusing here and there but good as a reference. The metronome is basic. For some reason it is has a dong sound rather than a click. You can't change the sound which can be a bit distracting but it works and I've got used to it. There is no midi unlike earlier versions i.e. not the SD version, but you can use a sync track if it becomes necessary and the SD in my opinion is better than the hard drive on the previous version. Over all I'm very pleased with this unit.
A fantastic product, Professional but also easy to use. In my opinion this is a 'Must have' peice of equipment for all studios. In addition, it arrived well packaged. And the delivery was fast.
This is my 2nd Tascam DP-24 so I'm an experienced user. It's a superb device and I have produced very pleasing music on it. I have one minor criticism - the lead on my previous model was 4 metres long - the new one is 1.5 metres - way too short!
