Yamaha's brand new digital saxophone, the YDS-150, offers the best synthesis of two worlds currently available. You will find yourself with real playing on a normal mouthpiece, with normal reed, as well as a mechanics modeled after a typical soprano saxophone, and the digital possibilities offered by a converter with the latest MIDI electronics and AWM sampling technology. This is what many saxophonists have been waiting for! Here, just like a real saxophone, the sound is modulated by the blowing strength as usual, giving innovative access to the 73 different sounds that are preloaded here. 56 of them are saxophone sounds that provide authentic saxophone sounds of soprano, alto, tenor and baritone saxophones thanks to the latest Yamaha AWM sampling technology.
By replicating a soprano saxophone with a real brass bell, the instrumentalist is provided with an authentic, natural resonance that closely resembles an acoustic saxophone and is carried by the newly developed, patented acoustic system. The sound resonances and vibrations reproduced in the acoustic tube are effectively transmitted to the player's mouth and fingertips.
Whether for quiet practice at home in the evening, or for exploring new digital and MIDI worlds, the Yamaha YDS-150 Soprano Saxophone gives the instrumentalist access to thousands of sounds from all MIDI-enabled synthesizers and keyboards.
A connection is quickly established via USB MIDI, and an audio output allows the audio signal to be transmitted beyond the built-in speaker to a larger amplifier system or mixing console. The YDS-150 fuses digital and acoustic technologies into a completely new, unique instrument!
